You will use your expertise in data science modelling within the Specialized Nutrition (SN) Centre of Excellence Data Science and Biometrics (CoEDSB) to build partnerships with stakeholders in the SN Centre of Excellence Process Engineering, and together provide industry-leading data science solutions to real world problems. Your work will contribute to the development of nutritional solutions that provide clinically proven health benefits to vulnerable consumers – infants, toddlers, expecting mothers, the elderly and patients.
In this role you will be part of the Data Science Team within the Centre of Excellence in Data Science and Biometrics at Danone Nutricia Research & Innovation. This team is responsible for providing data science modelling expertise across R&I. You will work in close collaboration with the other teams within the CoE, and with key stakeholders in the CoE Process Engineering. You will report to the Senior Manager Data Science.

About the Job
As a Data Scientist, you will provide expert data science input and advice into projects across Research & Innovation, with particular focus on projects within the product development portfolio. Next to that, you will:
- Conduct hands-on data modelling and simulation, with some data engineering, in close collaboration with colleagues in the statistical programming and statistician teams
- Act as an internal data science consultant managing relationships with stakeholders and ensuring individual data science activities within a project meet the business objectives
Do you have experience or interests in analyzing data from physical sciences or manufacturing processes?
We are looking for a Data Scientist with:
- Master’s degree or equivalent (PhD would be a plus) ideally Data Science, Informatics, Statistics or Mathematics with a strong statistical or machine learning content.
- Experience or exposure to manufacturing or engineering data would be an advantage, as would experience of biomedical research
- Commercial awareness and business skills
- Intellectual curiosity for problem solving using data science modelling techniques and passionate about keeping up-to-date with current methodological developments
- Highly computer literate, e.g. proficient in one or more of: R, Python, Julia, Ruby, C++, Java
In order to be successful in the role of Data Scientist you will have excellent communication skills (in English) and be able to interact with multidisciplinary project teams across Danone Nutricia Research and with all other parties involved, such as external vendors and academic partners. Additionally, you have the ability to explain complex modelling techniques orally as well as in writing to non-specialists. For this role potential and aptitude is more relevant than experience.
