Danone is a world leader in Specialized Nutrition (SN) for infants, children and adults with highly specific nutritional requirements due to illness or medical conditions. Systems Biology is central to this process as we deploy computational biology, mathematical modeling and computational simulation techniques to understand complex biological data as it relates to SN. To chart and lead our future strategy in this area via the integration and maximization of all relevant data sources, we currently seek candidates with advanced data expertise to apply for the key role of Senior Program Leader Systems Biology in Specialized Nutrition.
This highly influential role is based at our state-of-the-art Nutricia R&D facility in Utrecht, the Netherlands. It calls on you to act as a visionary and passionate ambassador for biological data as you lead programs and build scientific support for product innovation in close cooperation with our center in Singapore. As such, this is a role for candidates with true leadership and innovation qualities who fulfill the following criteria:
* PhD in Biology, biochemistry or medical biology or related field and at least 6-8 years of post doc experience;
* Proven track record in using Systems Biology as a translational research tool, possibly within a pharmaceutical organization or an educational context;
* Experience of (life science) data and the ability to integrate and make biological sense of (big) data;
* Interested in the biology of human health and nutrition and passionate about getting access to lots of (pre) clinical data;
* Able to deliver presentations and seminars on the topic.
Overall function and detailed responsibilities
Your core mission is to act as a pioneering Program Leader for Systems Biology for SN within Nutricia Research. Thus you link the different expertise centers including gut biology, microbiology, immunology, physiology, and nutrition. In doing so you push to receive essential data in a timely manner. You then analyze and integrate the data in order to extract and create the added data value that helps Danone SN to develop innovative nutritional solutions for consumers and patients worldwide. You disseminate the results internally and externally at scientific conferences etc.
This requires you to act as an energetic and inspiring ‘spider in the web’ who can close gaps by connecting people involved in digital, data and Systems Biology. You also provide advice and ensure the right outcomes. Above and beyond this you play a central role in further developing the capabilities and future strategy for Systems Biology for SN within Nutricia Research. You will have every opportunity to grow into a senior leadership role within Danone.
